Sia is Out to Lift Your Spirits With ‘Together’

Just like she’d promised, Sia has finally graced us with new music. Her new single is titled, ‘Together’ and it arrived with a music video too. The track will feature on Sia’s next project: a film called, ‘Music’, directed entirely by the singer herself.
The track was written by Sia and Jack Antonoff and produced by Antonoff too. Now, the song is a departure from Sia’s older numbers for sure, because this one’s a lot more peppy, syrupy-sweet and finds its home bang in the middle of the Pop genre. Which is interesting, considering that Sia tends to veer toward Alt-pop when it comes to most of her music. There’s always a new element, something that makes the piece uniquely Sia’s but for some reason – this song lacked just that.
Much like the song itself, the lyrics are charming and light:
I can see the lightning
Coming from your ears
Yeah, I see you’re frightened
I can see the lion
Sleeps tonight in the tears you’re crying
Oh, you can’t love me unless you love you too
Treat yourself like nothin’ but a fool
Can’t love me unless you love you too
It appears that self-love anthems are the new rage right now, but it’s not surprising considering that it’s also the need of the hour. During this difficult time, people are looking for music that will bring them some sense of comfort and maybe even cheer them up. But that being said, one can still create an uplifting song and bring something new to the table.
All About the Music Video
Now, coming to the music video. It all takes place within a rainbow-wallpapered playhouse and features Sia’s longtime collaborator Maddie Ziegler. Dancers are dressed in funny costumes, as they move about the room, delivering just the right dose of joy. The colour scheme in the video is also meant to cheer people up, it’s vibrant and loud, urging you to perhaps even sing along.
This tune will be part of her upcoming album and film, both titled ‘Music’. Both projects are slated for release in September. Sia also hinted that she’s written a good 10 new songs, all of which we can probably expect to see on the album.
Until September, hopefully she’ll drop a couple more treats on the way.
