In lieu of George Floyd’s passing, a number of musicians have spoken out against this injustice. Be it through social media posts, music or even videos, artists are taking a stand. And now, Billie Eilish has joined in, to put her views on the issue out there.

Billie took to social media to share her frustration over the situation. In a detailed post on Instagram, she first began by explaining the fact that she always takes the time to think through and draft what exactly she wants to say. But this time, as she pointed out, things are different. And so, she let loose.

“But holy f—ing shit I’m gonna just start talking. If all lives matter why are black people killed for just being black? Why are immigrants persecuted? Why are white people given opportunities that people of other races aren’t?” Eilish questioned.

Billie Eilish Questions White Privilege

“Why is it okay for white people to protest literally being asked to stay at home while carrying semi-automatic weapons? Why is it okay for black people to be called thugs for protesting the murder of innocent people? Do you know why? White. F—ing. Privilege.”

The world is still reeling from this incident. Especially as, just last week a video of Floyd’s death surfaced, showing police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on the neck of Floyd for eight minutes. Numerous artists have taken to the streets to protest, while others, as mentioned before, have taken their view online. At a time like this, noone can look away.

Eilish joins a long string of celebrities like Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande and more, who have spoken out against this injustice. A little before this, Taylor Swift led the charge with a scathing tweet towards President Donald Trump, pointing out that he was insinuating violence and promising that he’d be voted out in November.
