Xperience Session with F16s
Hailing from Chennai, India, the F16s are an alternative band which was formed in 2012. The band has made music like LCD Soundsystem, Julian Casablancas and the Voidz and The Horrors; beat-driven yet innately melodic. They already have a couple of prior releases attached to them: a 6-song EP released in 2013 called ‘Kaleidoscope’, and a 2-track recorded in Brooklyn, New York called ‘Nobody’s Gonna Wait’.
The band consists of four members, namely keyboardist/manager Harshan Radhakrishnan, vocalist/guitarist Josh Fernandez, bassist Sashank Manohar, and guitarist Abhinav Krishnaswamy.
In a recent interview with Indigo Music, when asked how they came up with their latest EP Is It Time to Eat the Rich Yet?, Sashank said, “The title of the song kind of formed itself.” He went on to say, “The entire EP kind of now revolves around our experience of what the pandemic was and how people within our kind of bubble- sort of privileged but also saw the brunt of what this meant and all this kind of like made more sense to write about that and it just felt like we could no longer just ignore social issues but at the same time we also wanted our music to give people an escape.”
The band has 14 Million Streams on Spotify and it continues to grow. Asking the band how they felt about it Abhinav said they kind of deserved but at the same time they were shocked.
The F16s has recently released new music I’m on Holiday on 11th August and Easy Bake Easy Wake on 15th September. They’re also all set to release their new EP Is It Time to Eat the Rich Yet? on 22nd October.
