As anticipation builds for the upcoming ‘Dune: Prophecy’, artist DIO on X has crafted a series of artworks depicting the key players from each Great House, drawing inspiration from various adaptations of the story. In these pieces, the artist showcases the distinctive styles of each faction, drawing from interpretations seen in Villeneuve’s films as well as David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation, which notably featured Sting’s portrayal of Feyd.

Lynch’s adaptation, designed by costume designer Bob Ringwood, faced challenges with limited time for costume preparation, resulting in unique choices like Feyd’s iconic winged underwear.

In contrast, Villeneuve’s meticulous planning, led by designers Jacqueline West and Bob Morgan, involved years of preparation and a team of artists to create intricate costumes reflecting the medieval and Greek inspirations of Herbert’s world.

Despite the differences in creation processes, both adaptations have produced visually striking designs that capture the essence of Herbert’s universe. D I O’s artwork pays homage to the distinct styles of each adaptation, highlighting the creativity and evolution of Dune’s costume designs. As Villeneuve’s franchise continues to unfold, fans eagerly anticipate further exploration of this richly imagined world.
