Childish Gambino Announces New Song, ‘Lithonia’

Childish Gambino has announced that his next single ‘Lithonia’ from the upcoming album ‘Bando Stone & the New World’ will be released on 2nd July. He announced during an Instagram Live session on the evening of 26th June, where he also expressed his frustration with the streaming service Audiomack for allegedly leaking the single ahead of its official release.

“‘Lithonia’ is coming out on 2nd July,” Glover confirmed (as transcribed by Hiphopdx). “It got leaked, and to be honest, that pissed me off. That’s another reason why you don’t get good stuff. Why bother? It’s just a single.” He didn’t hold back in naming Audiomack as the culprit, adding, “I know who did it, Audiomack. No soup for you. You’re not getting the album now. That’s the way it is.”

Glover also touched on the theme of fun, or the lack thereof, in the music industry today. “The problem is we’re not having fun,” he said, explaining that the rollout for his new album is all about bringing fun back. “I’m trying to have fun because I feel like people just aren’t having enough fun… When I was a kid, there were big things that would unite us, and I feel bad for you all. I feel bad for some of you.”

It looks like ‘Lithonia’ will be the lead single for ‘Bando Stone & the New World’, which is set to be released later this summer. The album will also serve as the soundtrack for his upcoming film of the same name, which is slated for release this summer as well.

During the live session, Glover also mentioned the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, pointing out that much of what people bond over these days is quite negative. “Even this year, the most fun we had was from a fight, a song from a fight, from a rap beef, which I enjoyed every minute of. It was very fun. But, still, kind of negative, in a certain light, I guess,” he said.
