‘House of The Dragon’ Unveils Epic ‘Game of Thrones’ Easter Egg: Did You Notice It?

‘The Game of Thrones’ prequel series introduced a pivotal moment as Rhaenyra Targaryen, portrayed by Emma D’Arcy, sent her step-daughter Rhaena, played by Phoebe Campbell, along with her sons Joffrey, Aegon, and Viserys, to Pentos for safety amid escalating conflict for the Iron Throne.

As a parting gift, Rhaenyra bestowed upon Rhaena, daughter of Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and the late Laena Velaryon, four dragon eggs, symbolising the enduring legacy of House Targaryen.

“You will bear our hope for the future,” Rhaenyra told Rhaena, emphasising the significance of these dragon eggs in preserving the lineage of the house of the dragon. Geeta Vasant Patel, who directed the episode, shared insights with Mashable, confirming the eggs taken by Rhaena to Pentos would eventually belong to Daenerys, played by Emilia Clarke, in the original HBO series.

“Those are Daenerys’ eggs,” Patel affirmed. “All of us who work on this show are big Game of Thrones fans, so it was very exciting to shoot that scene.” In Game of Thrones, Daenerys, known as the Mother of Dragons, received three dragon eggs as a wedding gift upon marrying Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) in season 1. This gift marked a significant turn as Daenerys became the first Targaryen in over a century capable of hatching and commanding dragons.

Reflecting on the enduring popularity of ‘Game of Thrones’, Emilia Clarke expressed gratitude for fans’ ongoing support of the series, which aired from 2011 to 2019 across eight seasons.

“The more distance I have from Game of Thrones, the more I can quantify it,” she shared. “When I started, you didn’t know what you’re doing, you don’t know what you’re surrounded by, and you don’t know what you’re taking part in.”
