With a combination of instant classics, box office hits, and well-received sequels, 2024 turned out to be an amazing year for moviegoers. Fan favourites were ‘Nosferatu’, ‘Longlegs’, ‘Twisters’, and ‘Alien: Romulus’. While some of the year’s top films didn’t necessarily break box office records, others delighted audiences and satiated their passion for a variety of genres. The year really catered to big, well-known franchises.
A noteworthy trend in 2024 was that all 10 of the highest-grossing films in the United States were sequels, which is uncommon for Hollywood. The year brought in billions for big studios, demonstrating the industry’s reliance on well-established brands, from highly anticipated superhero team-ups to continuations of beloved animated family films. Although financial success does not often equate to quality, 2024 nonetheless produced some popular and entertaining films for viewers.
