Which was one of the hottest movies of the summer in 2023? Surely, it was ‘Barbie’ by none other than Greta Gerwig and Mattel! This film takes the classic children’s toy and transforms Barbieland into a vibrant world, featuring a cast of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Not only are the leading roles filled with A-listers like Margot Robbie, but even the Kens are played by the likes of Ncuti Gatwa, Simu Liu, John Cena and the heartthrob himself, Ryan Gosling.

‘Barbie’ has stirred both applause and criticism for its feminist perspective, with some arguing that the focus should be on movies made by women rather than those centred around girls’ toys.
