Eminem, The Rap God, Marshall Mathers - the man has many names, and everyone knows them. He took to his Instagram today to celebrate 12 years of sobriety from alcohol and substances. His career and personal life has been in the limelight since the very beginning, making for headlines and scrutiny galore.
From severe addiction to an overdose and a heavy battle with dependence, the Detroit-origin rapper has used music to heal and express himself every step of the way, and we're here cheering him on. Here's a look at Mr. Mather's journey, through it all!

5. Eminem takes on acting for the first time, playing himself in the movie 8 Mile - a movie about his life. The film was proof that he could do it all because the critical acclaim he received was bang on.

6. The revival is strong; The Real Slim Shady makes his way to the stage to shut haters up once and for all. Taking the stage with LGBTQ icon Elton John, Eminem claps back at those calling him a bigot and homophobe, putting an end to that narrative once and for all!
