Every Shade of Ava Max Through The ‘Heaven & Hell’ Era

Today witnessed the arrival of Ava Max’s debut album, “Heaven & Hell” and boy, it’s been a treat from start to finish. The young star has been prepping for this project since 2018, when she put out her breakthrough hit, ‘Sweet But Psycho’. The track found a space on top of charts across the world and will also find a warm spot on “Heaven & Hell”.
The album itself nurses a good 15 tracks, some falling under the umbrella of ‘Heaven’ and others ‘Hell’. While the running theme is immediately associated with religious connotations, Ava clarified that it’s actually a comment on our emotional spectrum. From days where we see ourselves being gentle and sweet to days when we learn to embrace the darker sides to our personalities – “Heaven & Hell” tracks this contrast.
Ava traces this journey through her tracks and through the visuals she dropped along the way. Every teaser took a dip into a certain mood, some sparkly and airy while others dark and sinister. And so, we’ve decided to look back on all the gems Ava scattered in the lead up to the album’s release. So, brace yourselves, as we step into Ava’s world.

1. Ava Max gave us a solid taste of her debut record through the track, ‘Kings & Queens’. The tune soared through charts world over and received strong critical acclaim.
2. Much like the title of the album, Ava’s teasers are filled to the brim with sparkly, otherworldly aesthetics along with something a tad bit sinister. Look closer at this teaser and you’ll see what we mean.
3. Interestingly, the music video for the track witnessed Ava dancing in a heaven-themed throne room with a group of dancers. The star was inspired by Khaleesi from Game of Thrones and wanted to portray an Amazonian queen surrounded by warriors.
4. “Heaven & Hell” also witnessed some fantastic outfits, each one relaying a certain mood. We’ll let you decide if this one falls under ‘Heaven’ or ‘Hell’.
5. Ava took us back in time to slasher films of the 90s, with this teaser. Cue the dramatic spurts of blood and Ava’s maniacal grin. If you didn’t get the hint, here’s when Ava’s moods dip into all things…hellish.
6. Ava drenched in red is an absolute spectacle. She simply captioned this teaser, ‘Roll The Dice’ and boy, she looks like she’s got complete control over our fates.
7. As the kids say, “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”
8. Ava emphasized that “Heaven & Hell” will dance through a spectrum of emotions, from light and sweet to a tad bit psycho…After all, she does have a track called, ‘Sweet But Psycho’.
9. The throne in Hell is currently empty and Ava’s on her way to occupy that spot. And suddenly her lyrics to ‘Who’s Laughing Now’ hit even harder: ‘It’s comical, hysterical
So ridiculous, think you messed me up/ Who’s laughing now?’
10. And again, we show you the juxtaposition between two moods, the starry bodies roaming the sky makes it seem like Heaven. And yet, Eva is trapped within electric rings, on a burning landscape. And so, perhaps heaven and hell are two sides of the same coin…
