Macklemore is celebrating his 37th birthday and we couldn't be happier. He is the star who was the first in a long time, according to Billboard, to hit No.1 spot without being backed by any major label with his song Shop'. Of course he has been nabbed up since but that achievement paved way for the younger generation to dare to dream.

1. Macklemore aka Ben Haggerty was born in Seattle and first found hip hop through Digital Underground.

4. As you can tell by a lot of his latest music, he started writing lyrics and music when he was as young as 14, and was inspired by "a lot of East Coast underground hip hop."
