The American rapper-singer, Nas, has taken over the music world ever since he decided to dabble in the art. Since 1994, Nas has dropped twelve studio albums and no doubt, from a plethora of tracks, we’ve got our favourites. Fans and critics claim that his music can be identified as the greatest in the hip-hop genre, and we agree.
He released his debut album, “Illmatic” in 1994 which was followed by “It Was Written”, both these albums led to a successful start to his career. From being on the Billboard charts at the top to winning multiple awards, Nas has achieved it all.
There is no denying that he knows what his fans want to hear. Be it the choice of beats in his songs to writing the rawest lyrics, out there, he caters to his fans like no other musician does. Nas not only influenced people to listen to hip-hop but also spoke for the Black community and the injustice they face, from time to time.
To celebrate his successful life of and his amazing music, here are the ten times Nas connected with us via his songwriting.

Could tell you ‘gon be laughing at me or you laughing with me?“
I don’t owe you, shoulda heard when I told you
You are an extension of what I’ve worked hard to build“
Angels don’t only fly, they walk right before you
In front of you, it’s foul what this money could do“
Put the worst on display so the world can see
And that’s all they will ever show“
Conversations taped illegally, then they cuff us“
It’s some heavy concepts that we gotta explore
We gotta strip the word down rugged and raw
The rhetoric of Martin King just ain’t around no more“
Come through, something ill, missin’ the ceilin’
What influenced my raps? Stick ups and killings“
Satan or Satan? In the hood nothin is changin, uh“
I gotta take you off here“
