The Week in Music: News from July 13th to July 19th
The music gods have been far too generous this week, blessing us with a string of new releases from the likes of Troye Sivan, Doja Cat, BTS and a ton of other stars. And as always, this week has had its fair share of drama, new team-ups and a few heartbreaking stories.
So, brace yourself to get a taste of every flavour as we take you through all the happenings of this week.

2. The ‘Glee’ star, Naya Rivera, tragically passed away at the age of 33. While rescuing her son, Josey Rivera, the singer was confirmed to have drowned in Lake Piru. Messages of love and condolences continue to pour in.
3. BTS have finally released their 13-track Japanese album,’Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey’. Sprinkled with new tunes and remixes of some of their older numbers, the album has already dominated charts across the globe.
4. Shawn Mendes recently joined hands with Global Citizen Year to launch the Global Citizen Academy. This course aims to empower young people with the resources and tools they need to make a social impact on the world.
5. Troye Sivan just released his brand new single, ‘Easy.’ Filled to the brim with synth-pop goodness, this tune will find its space on Troye’s new EP, ‘In A Dream,’ slated to drop on August 21.
6. Megan Thee Stallion recently suffered from multiple bullet wounds. She took to Instagram to recount the painful incident while reassuring her fans that she was currently focusing on her recovery.
7. Doja Cat and Anne-Marie just put out their fiery collaboration, ‘To Be Young’. The tune celebrates youth in all its vibrant hues, some bright, some painful but all exhilarating.
8. DJ Khaled and Drake dropped not one but two collaborative tracks: ‘Popstar’ and ‘Greece,’ both tunes being wildly different from each other.
9. Hwa Sa just released the official music video for her B-side track, ‘LMM’. Short for ‘Lost My Mind’. The tune explores the concept of self-acceptance through some stunning metaphors.
10. After much anticipation, Ellie Goulding dropped her 19-track album, ‘Brightest Blue’. The tracks take a dip into all the emotions tied to heartbreak and Ellie’s star-studded collaborators also bring their own flavours to this exquisite dish.
