The Week in Music: News From June 29th to July 5th
This week has seen a flood of new releases, some brand new record-breakers and as usual, a tad bit of drama. Now, as always, we’re here to take you through the highlights of this week. We’ve witnessed new tunes from Ellie Goulding, Lauv, Kanye West and a number of other stars. BLACKPINK have once again made history (what’s new?) and in a big revelation, Katy Perry opened up about one of the darkest moments in her career.
The music world has been humming with news so, strap in, because we’ve got a lot of great stops ahead.

2. The BET Awards 2020 came and went with a bang. Among the many stars that took home awards were Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Lizzo, Roddy Ricch and a number of others.
3. TXT, left fans in awe with the release of their ethereal music video for the track ‘Eternally’. Standing at a whopping 19-minutes, the video explores nightmares, relationships and fears, all while dabbling with some stunning animation.
4. BLACKPINK set an all-time record with their latest track, ‘How You Like That,’ which scored the biggest 24-hour debut on YouTube with 86.3 million views.
5. Ellie Goulding and Lauv just dropped their brand new track, ‘Slow Grenade,’ this week. This tune speaks of moving on from a toxic relationship and the loneliness that seeps in when one does so.
6. Kanye West just released, ‘Wash Us In The Blood’ – a single featuring fellow rapper, Travis Scott. Filled to the brim with Biblical references, in this tune, Kanye West asks that Christ’s blood rain down on people, washing away their sins.
7. In a big revelation, Katy Perry opened up about having suicidal thoughts after the major failure of her album ‘Witness’ and a temporary break up with Orlando Bloom. She also emphasized what helped her get through this difficult period.
8. Adding yet another feather to his cap, Suga from BTS just witnessed his music video for, ‘Agust D’ hit 100 million views.
9. The Weeknd and Doja Cat just put out the animated music video for their track, ‘In Your Eyes’. The video features the duo navigating a futuristic cityscape.
10. Indie sensation, Prateek Kuhad, just released his heartwarming new track ‘Kasoor’. The fascinating music video for this features footage of fans reacting to a number of cheeky, sweet questions he puts forward.
