Disney’s ‘Moana’ Deepens Maui’s Backstory

With its stunning animation, intricate character development, and unique storyline, ‘Moana’ stood apart from traditional Disney fairytales. The film’s lead, Moana, is an unconventional Disney heroine who is determined to explore beyond her home and trust her instincts. The film’s success was boosted by its captivating soundtrack and the introduction of Maui, a charismatic demigod who, beneath his confidence, hides a tragic backstory.

Recently, Disney announced the upcoming ‘Moana 2’, set to release in theatres in late November 2024. This sequel has fans eagerly awaiting more of Moana and Maui’s journey, with the trailer sparking excitement. Maui, initially portrayed as egotistical, evolves significantly throughout the story.
