Jed Brophy: ‘The Lord of the Rings’ Actor Who Appeared in All Six Films and ‘The Rings of Power’

Despite drawing inspiration from Tolkien’s setting, ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ takes place in a different timeline from Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ movies. In order to avoid having a direct relationship to Jackson’s adaptations, the show recasts important characters like Galadriel and Elrond. Though in various parts, a few actors from Jackson’s movies have appeared in ‘The Rings of Power’. Jed Brophy is notable among them due to his unmatched participation in Middle-earth adaptations.
Brophy has starred in ‘The Rings of Power’, ‘The Hobbit’, and all three of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies. He first worked with Jackson on ‘Braindead’ and ‘Heavenly Creatures’, before the Middle-earth epic. Brophy has demonstrated his versatility by playing a variety of characters in Tolkien’s world throughout the years, including Orcs and Elves. His most well-known performance was in ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy as Nori the Dwarf, a cunning, law-breaking figure distinguished by his characteristic braided beard and star-shaped haircut.

Brophy portrayed lesser but noteworthy roles in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, such as Snaga, an Orc in ‘The Two Towers’ who memorably proposed eating Merry and Pippin before meeting a terrible end. Additionally, he played the role of Sharku, the Warg-rider who asserted Aragorn’s death. He played Vrath in ‘The Rings of Power’, another Orc role, a powerful Orc chieftain with distinctive armour and cold blue eyes.
Brophy’s love of Tolkien’s world and his strong ties to Middle-earth have made him a mainstay of its adaptations. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him resurface in later Tolkien works like ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ or ‘The War of the Rohirrim’, considering his past.
