‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Director Compares Film to Spielberg Classic

Gareth Edwards, the director, is making sure that the next ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ respects the history of the franchise’s beginnings, especially the impact of Steven Spielberg and his earlier movies, particularly ‘Jaws’ (1975). Edwards called the follow-up “a giant love letter” to Spielberg in an interview with Entertainment Weekly for its 2025 Preview series. He clarified that the movie had scenes that were evocative of ‘Jaws’, utilizing the tension, adventure, and survival themes that made Spielberg’s movies so famous. In this new ‘Jurassic World’ film, Edwards thought back to how he had incorporated aspects of Spielberg’s work, which he had liked as a child. In addition, he revealed that the movie will have a number of exciting set pieces and action-packed scenes, similar to ‘Jurassic Park’ (1993).

According to Edwards, the relationship between the three main characters in ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’—Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey—is similar to that of the famous ‘Jaws’ trio of Brody, Hooper, and Quint. Instead of forming a love triangle, these individuals will cooperate to hunt a prehistoric species, fostering an enjoyable, competitive environment where they fight for supremacy.

‘Jurassic Future Rebirth’, which takes place five years after the events of ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ (2022), depicts a future in which dinosaurs have mostly vanished from the planet, with only a small population still living in remote areas. The plot centres on Zora Bennett, played by Johansson, who is in charge of an expedition to extract genetic material from three enormous dinosaurs. However, when they come across startling new animals and startling discoveries, the plan takes a surprising turn.

David Koepp, who penned ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’, is directing ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’, which promises a more grounded plot and a return to the franchise’s origins with fewer computer-generated graphics. On 2nd July 2025, the movie is scheduled to open in theatres.
