The Jurassic Park film series began in 1993 with Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Michael Crichton's bestselling novel, and it has remained popular for over thirty years. The franchise has grossed more than $6 billion worldwide and includes numerous animated spin-offs and video game adaptations. After a 14-year break following ‘Jurassic Park III’, the franchise returned with ‘Jurassic World’ in 2015, fulfilling the original film’s vision of a dinosaur theme park for the public. While ‘Jurassic World’ is often regarded as the best sequel in the franchise, it contains several narrative flaws, particularly the subplot involving the military use of Velociraptors.
In the film, Vic Hoskins (played by Vincent D'Onofrio) plans to train Velociraptors for military purposes, using Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) to help. The Integrated Behavioral Raptor Intelligence Study Project (IBRIS Project) is launched by InGen to explore the raptors' intelligence.

Although Owen manages to train the raptors to respond to commands, his concerns about using wild carnivorous predators for military operations highlight the absurdity of Hoskins' plan. Unlike domesticated dogs, which have undergone thousands of years of training to become suitable for military and police work, the raptors are genetically engineered creatures that would not be reliable for such tasks.
Hoskins argues that dinosaurs could replace drones and AI in military operations, stating that drones are hackable and ineffective in certain environments. However, this reasoning is flawed, as wild animals, regardless of their intelligence, would not be suitable for complex military missions. Just as the military does not deploy lions or tigers for reconnaissance, using trained raptors would likely lead to chaos rather than effectiveness.

The ongoing theme of using dinosaurs for military purposes in the ‘Jurassic World’ sequels raises questions about the franchise's future direction, particularly with the upcoming ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’, starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey. Fans hope the film moves away from the improbable concept of military dinosaurs and avoids the idea of super-intelligent, talking dinosaurs.
