Laurence Fishburne Shares His Top Proud Moments in Film

Laurence Fishburne, celebrated for his iconic roles in franchises like ‘The Matrix’ and ‘John Wick’, has shared that he’s particularly proud of two lesser-known films from his career. In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Fishburne highlighted his admiration for the HBO films ‘Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned’ and ‘Miss Evers’ Boys’.

Fishburne revealed that ‘Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned’, released in 1998, is a film he holds in high regard. Based on a novella by Walter Mosley, the drama explores the harsh realities of inner-city life and features performances by Bill Cobbs, Cicely Tyson, and Natalie Cole.

Additionally, Fishburne praised ‘Miss Evers’ Boys’, a 1997 HBO film that addresses the U.S. government’s unethical syphilis experiments on African American men during the 1930s. The film, starring Alfre Woodard, received critical acclaim and was notably referenced by President Bill Clinton when the government issued a formal apology to the victims.

While Fishburne is well-known for his roles in ‘Boyz n the Hood’, ‘Deep Cover’, and ‘Searching for Bobby Fischer’, he became a household name as Morpheus in ‘The Matrix’, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Fishburne’s involvement in the franchise continues as a fifth instalment is in development, though it’s unclear if the original cast will return.

Fishburne’s upcoming projects include the sci-fi psychological thriller ‘Slingshot’, where he stars alongside Casey Affleck and Emily Beecham. The film, which finished shooting in 2022, is set for a 30th August release. Additionally, Fishburne will voice Alpha Trion in the animated film ‘Transformers One’, and he is also filming for ‘The Witcher’ Season 4.
