Meet the New Symbiotes in ‘Venom: The Last Dance’
As Venom and Eddie Brock battle several enemies in ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, the last movie in Sony’s Venom trilogy, a number of new symbiotes are unveiled, bringing more extraterrestrial personalities into the foreground. In ‘Venom’ (2018), many of these symbiotes made brief appearances in the ‘Life Foundation’, but they now play important antagonistic roles.
Marvel Comics’ heroic symbiote Toxin is one of the most eagerly awaited newcomers. Given his comic-book beginnings as Carnage’s child, fans identified Detective Patrick Mulligan from ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ as a possible host for Toxin. However, Mulligan’s transition into Toxin in ‘The Last Dance’ is short-lived when a Xenophage at Area 55 swiftly kills both him and Toxin, ending their potential as a tale.

Lasher, a green-and-red symbiote who forms a link with Dr. Sadie Christmas, is another recent addition. Lasher, who is well-known in the comics for employing tendrils and extra limbs, teams up with Dr. Christmas to repel the Xenophages. ‘The Last Dance’ also introduces Agony, another ‘Life Foundation’ symbiote, who becomes close to Dr. Teddy Paine and becomes one of the few to survive the decisive conflict.
A group of symbiotes and the Xenophages sent by Knull square off in the last battle of ‘The Last Dance’. Along with characters like Phage, Rascal, Scorn, Sleeper, Mayhem, and Flicker, this also features a number of nameless symbiotes. Although there was room for more investigation into each of these symbiotes in the ‘Venom’ series, they are ultimately only temporary additions, with the most dying young.
