Numerous well-known science fiction movies have had a big influence on the genre and viewers, frequently winning awards or making money. However, despite its intriguing idea and novel components, ‘The Arrival’, a 1996 movie starring Charlie Sheen, is still disregarded.
David Twohy is the director of this exciting thriller about a conspiracy alien invasion. It revolves around Sheen's character, radio astronomer Zane Zaminsky, who finds an alien signal. After his conclusions are rejected, he loses his job and takes a job installing cables, which he uses to conduct more research. He finds a covert alien activity in Mexico after his hunt there. The aliens are surreptitiously modifying Earth's environment to make it more conducive for them at the expense of humans because they have the ability to shapeshift into human forms.

‘The Arrival’ and the more well-known ‘Independence Day’ both deal with alien invasions, but their approaches and tones are very different. ‘The Arrival’ had a more subdued strategy, focusing on environmental issues, paranoia, and conspiracy, whereas ‘Independence Day’ was more concerned with action-packed scenes and massive conflicts.
The film's examination of how alien influence causes global warming was novel at the time and is still relevant now. The film's frightening appeal is heightened by its tense atmosphere and body horror themes, particularly the unnerving change of aliens in disguise.

The film's psychological tension and sense of dread make it a must-watch for sci-fi lovers, even though the spectacular effects may seem archaic by today's standards. Standing out as an underappreciated treasure in the science fiction genre, its themes of environmental change, mistrust, and extraterrestrial invasion provide a distinctive and gripping tale that has held up well over time.
