The Iconic ‘Home Alone’ House Was Almost Bought by Macaulay Culkin

Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin McCallister in the popular Christmas movies, disclosed during his recent ‘Home Alone’ movie tour that he almost bought the famous house in the film. When the Winnetka, Illinois, home was listed for sale earlier this year, it attracted a lot of interest. Culkin told the crowd at a screening event in Rosemont, Illinois, that he had considered buying the property and turning it into a “movie fun house” with attractions for guests with a Home Alone theme. According to Zillow, the house is still on sale for $5.2 million.

However, Culkin’s hectic work and family life ultimately caused him to decide against the acquisition. He clarified that he didn’t have the time for such a project because he had two little children and a full plate. Culkin also thought back on his time as a kid celebrity and admitted that it was both a boon and a bane, especially now that he is a parent. He has a different take on the movie after seeing it through his children’s eyes.

In other developments, Culkin recently said that he will be playing a “crazy genius-type character” in the upcoming second season of the ‘Fallout’ series on OTT. Culkin, who previously provided the voice of the animated series ‘The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy’, is returning with this casting. His brother, Kieran Culkin, who played Kevin’s cousin Fuller in ‘Home Alone’, also discussed the film’s surprising humour, acknowledging that even though he was involved in the making of the movie, he didn’t know why it was so amusing at first.
