This Sci-Fi Horror Film Redefines Holiday Survival With a Bloody Twist

The holiday season frequently combines happiness and anxiety, which makes it the ideal setting for horror movies that explore dark surprises and family dynamics. Johnny Kevorkian's ‘Await Further Instructions’, which blends sci-fi suspense with the claustrophobia of family get-togethers gone wrong, adds a terrifying entry to this subgenre. 

Sam Gittens' character Nick hesitantly brings his fiancée Annji (Neerja Naik) home for Christmas in the first scene of the movie. Nick's bigoted grandfather (David Bradley) and his careless sister Kate (Holly Weston) are the main causes of the toxic family dynamic that ruins their visit. When the couple awakens on Christmas morning to discover their home barred by enigmatic black bars and cryptic instructions displayed on the TV, tensions rise.

A bleak plunge into survival horror ensues as Nick's family tries to understand and comply with the television's increasingly demanding commands. The family is told to inject themselves with tainted needles that are sent through the chimney, which heightens the tension and creates an unsettling and anxious environment. With the family patriarch Tony (Grant Masters) becoming into a real worshipper of the television and interpreting its words as commands from the government, this premise turns the movie into a condemnation of mindless devotion.

The perils of strict loyalty to authority and tradition are examined in Kevorkian's film. Chaos and violence are the outcome of Tony's controlling conduct and the antiquated opinions of other male family members, highlighting the disastrous effects of holding onto antiquated ideas in a world that is changing quickly.
