With ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ becoming a massive box office success and breaking numerous records, a sequel feels inevitable. The film has crossed significant milestones, cementing the team-up as a winning formula. The big question now is: where do Deadpool and Wolverine go next? Fans are eager to see how the franchise will continue to evolve, especially with such a strong pairing.
Future versions could benefit from introducing new characters alongside ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’. Adding more characters from the comics would not only keep the dynamic fresh but also open the door to exploring some of the MCU's more eccentric locales and storylines. This approach could bring more depth and excitement to the franchise, making it even more thrilling for long-time fans.

Since Deadpool's debut, fans have eagerly anticipated a team-up with Spider-Man. This demand led to the creation of the ‘Spider-Man/Deadpool’ comic series, which ran for 50 issues from 2016 to 2019. Despite their contrasting personalities, ‘Spider-Man’ sees potential in ‘Deadpool’ and hopes he can become his best self, though ‘Deadpool’ often falls short of these expectations.
Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Spider-Man seems like the perfect match for ‘Deadpool’. Garfield's ‘Spider-Man’, while not overtly cynical, carries a sense of exhaustion that would provide a rich dynamic with ‘Deadpool’. Their contrasting yet complementary styles would make for a compelling and entertaining partnership, with each character pushing the other's buttons in just the right way.

This might seem like an unexpected idea, but if there's one thing ‘Deadpool’ is known for, it's taking bold risks. The mid-credits scene of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ (2022) introduces ‘Hercules’ (Brett Goldstein), sent by ‘Zeus’ (Russell Crowe) to confront ‘Thor’. While Hercules and Thor have a rich history of rivalry and friendship in the comics, Hercules feels like a minor threat in the current context of Thor’s storyline. The comedic portrayal of Zeus and the relatively small stakes make this confrontation seem more like a fleeting plot point.
Given Hercules' comic book persona, which revolves around pleasure and fame, it’s easy to envision him becoming sidetracked in his mission to kill ‘Thor’. As he explores Earth and its allure, his quest might take a backseat to the various distractions and experiences he encounters. This would allow for Deadpool’s unique style to potentially shake things up and bring a fresh perspective to this dynamic.
Deadpool & Wolverine & Hulk

A follow-up featuring Deadpool and Wolverine that introduces the Hulk could provide a compelling exploration of ‘Weapon X’, the government-sanctioned program that produces the next generation of super-soldiers. In the comics, ‘Wolverine’, ‘X-23’, and ‘Deadpool’ are direct outcomes of ‘Weapon X’, each tied to its experiments in unique ways.
Meanwhile, in the MCU, Bruce Banner’s transformation into the Hulk stems from his attempt to recreate the super-soldier serum that initially gave Captain America his powers. Bringing the Hulk into this mix would create an intriguing dynamic among these characters, each with their own connection to ‘Weapon X’ and super-soldier experiments. It would also offer fresh storytelling opportunities, as the characters navigate their intertwined pasts and the repercussions of their origins.
Deadpool & Wolverine ... and Gambit, Too

Channing Tatum’s Gambit emerged as a standout character in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, a notable triumph for Tatum, who had originally been set to star in a solo film as his favourite character before the 20th Century Fox acquisition. In the post-credit scene of the film, Gambit is shown on a monitor, having survived his clash with Alioth.
Marvel Studios recently shared the full post-credit scene online, revealing Gambit approaching a “magic sparkle circle” that seems to lead him back to his world—or possibly another. This suggests that Tatum’s Gambit might have more to offer in future Marvel projects.
Deadpool & Wolverine (Again)
Focusing once again on the dynamic between ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is a natural choice. Their classic buddy formula, featuring two compelling leads, has the potential to sustain interest and deliver engaging content. Echoing James Cameron's bold approach to Aliens (1986), introducing more than one Wolverine could heighten the stakes and add new layers to Deadpool and Logan’s relationship.
While a full ‘Wolverine’ Corps might seem excessive and contrary to the character’s essence, incorporating an additional Wolverine could be intriguing. Specifically, adding X-23/Laura (Dafne Keen) would offer a fresh perspective and dynamic to the existing duo, enriching the storyline without overwhelming it.
