In Harry Potter’s wizarding universe, the British Ministry of Magic is a crucial and complex organization. Over the years, key characters including Hermione, Dumbledore, Harry, and Ron had important encounters with the Ministry. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement is one of its most important departments, notably in Harry’s storyline. This department, which includes divisions like the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office and the Auror’s Office, is well-known for supervising justice and the law.
Expert Aurors like Mad-Eye Moody and Kingsley Shacklebolt work in the Auror’s Office, which is crucial to the Ministry. These exceptionally skilled wizards battle deadly dark wizards in the most difficult instances. To give the office a detective squad room vibe, each Auror keeps a personal cubicle that is adorned with pictures of their families or information about dark wizards. Because of the severe requirements of the position, aspiring Aurors must have at least five N.E.W.T.s. Following the Second Wizarding War, Harry Potter himself takes up this position, rising to the position of Head Auror and then Head of the Department.

The Improper Use of Magic Office, another important branch, monitors infractions by young wizards and enforces laws against the public and underage misuse of magic. Harry’s summoning for using a Patronus Charm to protect himself against dementors is one of the known encounters. These trials are overseen by the Wizengamot, the wizarding court, and its administrative division, the Wizengamot Administration Services.
Other departments include the Department of Intoxicating Substances, which licenses magical businesses, and the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, which controls magical objects to protect Muggles. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement, which is crucial to both the Ministry and Harry Potter’s own adventure, is run by powerful individuals like Amelia Bones and Barty Crouch Sr. and maintains order in the wizarding community.
