Who is The Void? Exploring the Dark Entity in ‘Thunderbolts’

An intriguing development in the MCU, ‘Thunderbolts’ from Marvel provides a new look at the return of a number of villains and anti-heroes. ‘Thunderbolts’ was originally intended to be the grand climax for Phase 5, ushering in an evil iteration of the legendary team under Valentina Allegra, who enlists former villains for tasks that the disbanded Avengers would often perform. With significant MCU events like ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ approaching, the movie is now in the midst of Phase 5.

The Void, a formidable and sinister force that raises the stakes for the forthcoming film, is revealed to be Thunderbolts’ primary antagonist. In order to comprehend The Void, we must first look at one of Marvel’s most powerful characters, Bob Reynolds, also known as The Sentry. Bob, who received an improved super-soldier serum, has superhuman strength, telepathy, and the ability to manipulate matter. Despite his mental conflicts brought on by his alter ego, The Void, Bob is a hero in contrast to the other ‘Thunderbolts’.

The dark opposite of The Sentry, the Void is a terrible force that possesses abilities including telekinesis, energy manipulation, and immortality. The Void has destroyed a lot of things in the comics, including destroying Asgard and almost destroying New York. He is one of the most deadly characters in the MCU because of his talents, and the ‘Thunderbolts’, whose members are primarily human or weaker than The Void, will face a formidable obstacle in their fight against him.

His relationship with Bob holds the secret to destroying The Void. The Void goes inactive if Bob’s memories are lost. Characters like Reed Richards and Doctor Strange have historically managed to neutralize The Void, and it’s possible that Yelena Belova, a ‘Thunderbolts’ member, will have to give her life in order to defeat this menace. This internal conflict will be examined in the ‘Thunderbolts’ movie, which promises to provide a more nuanced interpretation of the good-versus-evil cliché that has been increasingly common in contemporary superhero tales. To find out how this conflict plays out, fans will have to wait until the movie’s May 2nd release.
