Why Ryan Reynolds Refuses to Let Deadpool Become an Avenger

Following his outstanding portrayal of Deadpool in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, Ryan Reynolds knows that fans are excited for his character to join the ‘Avengers’ in future follow-ups. Reynolds is determined that Deadpool should never join the venerable superhero squad, despite this compelling argument. He said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that while he is excited about upcoming MCU projects, he is adamant that he does not want Deadpool to join the X-Men or the Avengers.

Reynolds clarified that Deadpool’s attraction is primarily rooted in his outsider status, as he constantly yearns to join a team but is never really welcomed. Reynolds claims that this quality is what makes Deadpool likeable and accessible, but if he were to formally join an organization like the Avengers or the X-Men, it would be compromised.

Since Deadpool’s comedy and coping strategies work best when he is grappling with his shortcomings and trying to find acceptance in a society that doesn’t completely accept him, the actor believes that such a development would signal the end of the character’s journey.

Reynolds feels that Deadpool is more effective as a supporting character than a key member of a larger team, although he has liked working with X-Men characters in his solo movie. He even hinted that he might not play the lead in the next movie, preferring to play the underdog.

Reynolds is concentrating on other projects, such as a reunion with Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy, the director of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, for the upcoming comedy ‘Boy Band’, even though fans are thrilled about possible future Deadpool appearances. Additionally, he is working on bringing ‘Mighty Mouse’, a beloved cartoon character, back to life.
