Green Lit Fest

In a world confronted with the pressing questions about the future of our planet, the need to integrate green literature into mainstream discourse becomes undeniable. The urgency of the climate crisis demands a collective awakening, pushing individuals to alter their consumption habits and advocate for earth-friendly policies.

At the forefront of this movement is the Green Literature Festival (GLF), conceived by Benedict Paramanand, a trailblazer known for founding India’s widely-read ‘SustainabilityNext’ e-magazine and co-founding the Bangalore Business Literature Festival. Born from Paramanand’s vision, GLF emerged in November 2020, bringing together a team of passionate writers dedicated to propelling environmental awareness through literature.

GLF envisions creating a robust ecosystem of green literature that engages readers, publishers, authors, NGOs, business bodies, public policy forums, and educational institutions. This multifaceted platform seeks to amplify the role of green literature in shaping dialogues, sparking debates, fostering environmental consciousness, and prompting action from leaders in politics, business and civil society.

To achieve these goals, GLF has curated a year-long series of dialogues, discussions, and artistic endeavours focused on the environment. The festival included book reviews catering to readers of all ages, newsletters, and a three-day extravaganza.

A standout feature of the festival was the unveiling of annual honour lists recognizing outstanding contributions to Green Literature in categories spanning adults, sustainable businesses, and children. GLF stands as a beacon, beckoning individuals to read more, write more and speak more about the environment, forging a path towards a more sustainable and conscientious future.
