10 Times BTS Shocked the World Making History
South Korean boy group and now, global sensations, BTS, have officially completed seven years since their debut back in 2013. The seven member group has been through their fair share of ups and downs, coming out victorious with their fans, ARMY, by their side.
BTS, also known as Bangtan Seonyeondan, have set new standards, often breaking their own records. From dominating Western music charts, to breaking Korean pop music into the mainstream music landscape, the group has wandered into unchartered territory. And as their journey continues, we’re taking a look at some of their biggest, history-making records.
2. The 7-member group made television history when they performed at the 2018 American Music Awards. They are the first Korean act to perform live at an American Awards show.

3. They are the first international music act to have won Top Social Artist at the BBMA’s. They broke Justin Bieber’s 6 year streak, and have gone on to win the award 3 years in a row.

4. Their studio album “Love Yourself: Tear” made history becoming the first ever non-English album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200.

5. BTS made performance history when they headlined a 2-day, sold out concert at the prestigious Wembley Stadium, becoming the first Korean act to ever do so.

6. The South Korean group made Grammy history when they took the stage at the 2020 Grammy Awards, becoming the first Korean act to do so.

7. BTS made television history when they performed at Grand Central Station on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The venue was shut down for their performance.

8. The BTS ARMY stood strong by the boys in support of racial justice. The fandom collectively raised 1 million dollars in less than 24 hours, matching the group’s donation of the same amount to Black Lives Matter organisations.

9. BTS have officially become the first Korean group to win the grand prize of “Artist of the Year” at the Mnet Asian Music Awards 4 years in a row. This also makes them the Korean act with the most “Daseang” wins in history.
