Artist of The Week: Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish recently took the world by storm when she resurfaced with her brand new tune, ‘Therefore I Am’. Riddled with her characteristic raspy vocals, this dark yet peppy track also arrived with quite the endearing music video.
Featuring Billie roaming through a ghostly, post-covid mall, sampling various sweet treats, there was a childlike charm thrumming through this visualizer. There’s no doubt that this new single will make some big moves on the charts, but before we dish out all our predictions, it’s time to celebrate Billie’s ascension to the artist of the week throne. And so, we’re taking the festivities one step forward by counting all the feathers currently sitting on Billie’s cap!

2. On to more familiar wins, at this year’s Grammys, Billie walked away with a whopping 5 awards. She conquered some of the biggest categories like ‘Best New Artist’, ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’.
3. The young star also scored 2 American Music Awards – one for the ‘New Artist of the Year’ and for the ‘Favourite Artist – Alternative Rock’.
4. Eilish’s debut album, ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 making her the first artist born in the 2000s to have a No. 1 album in the United States.
5. This very album also landed at that special, coveted spot on the UK Albums Chart making her the youngest female ever to have a No. 1 album in the United Kingdom.
6. Oh but it doesn’t end there. Upon the album’s debut, Eilish broke the record for most simultaneously charting Hot 100 songs by a female artist, with every song from the album, charting on the Hot 100.
7. Billie’s debut EP ‘Don’t Smile at Me’ can’t be excluded as it’s also brought home some phenomenal wins. This EP reached 1 billion streams on Spotify, making her the youngest artist to top 1 billion streams on a project.
8. In November 2019, Billie was crowned ‘Billboard Woman of the Year’.
9. In early 2020, the star put out the heartbreaking Bond track, ‘No Time to Die’. Written and produced with her brother, Finneas, Eilish became the youngest artist to craft a James Bond theme song.
10. Billie Eilish also finds a space alongside many “rising stars” as part of the ‘Time 100 Next’ list.The aim of this list is to shine a spotlight on influential individuals “who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, politics, science, health and more”.
