K-Pop girl group and global superstars, BLACKPINK, took over trends worldwide earlier in the day when they announced their comeback. The group teased the release of their upcoming single, the name of which is yet to be revealed. The track will be released on the 26th of June, while the album is expected sometime in July. Suffice it to say, the announcement has fans spiraling in a frenzy.
BLACKPINK, who debuted in 2016 under the infamous Korean agency YG Entertainment, have since taken the Korean music world by storm. Their debut saw some of the biggest numbers for a girl group in K-Pop, and they have gone on to expand their fanbase world over. Their dedicated fanbase, the “Blinks”, have catapulted them into the global music spotlight.
Ahead of the release of their single, here is a rundown of all you need to know about BLACKPINK.
2. Kim Jisoo, commonly known as Jisoo, is the oldest member and leader of BLACKPINK. She is a vocalist, dancer and actor.

3. Kim Jennie, known as “Jennie” on stage, is the second oldest member of the group. She grew up in New Zealand for a few years, and is known for her stage presence and charisma.

4. Lalisa Manoban, known by her stage name “Lisa”, is the only non-Korean member in BLACKPINK. She is from Thailand. She’s reputed in the industry for her stunning dance abilities.

5. Roseanna Park, known as Rose on stage is the youngest of the group. Her unique vocals have made her well known among peers in the industry. She was born and raised in New Zealand.

6. Aside from being vocalists, Jennie and Lisa often don the caps of rappers. They are the main rappers of the group.

7. Jisoo and Rose are the main vocalists of BLACKPINK. Though the girls have assigned roles, they often interchange, offering refreshing sounds, and new dynamics with every track.
