Here Are the Biggest Names on This Year’s VMA Nominee List
This Friday, the music world has simply been humming with activity. From new releases, all heads are now turning to MTV’s nominee list for the 2020 Video Music Awards. With the global coronavirus pandemic underway, the VMA’s have made appropriate adjustments by introducing two timely new categories: best music video from home and the best quarantine performance.
Today onwards, fans can vote across 15 categories. The event itself will air on Sunday, August 30th, live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Now, coming to the nominee list, there are a lot of familiar faces sitting here and we’re going to take you through some of the biggest names that’ve scored nominations this year. 2. Leading the charge, Lady Gaga has scored a whopping nine nominations. Her collaborative track ‘Rain on Me’ featuring Ariana Grande has bagged many of the big categories.
3. Tying with Billie Eilish, The Weeknd has also notched six nominations – including one for the ‘Artist of the Year’.
4. As expected, Post Malone’s ‘Circles’ has been nominated in the ‘Song of the Year’ category and his name has also landed on the ‘Artist of the Year’ list.
5. It’s a big day for the up and coming Roddy Ricch, as he’s scored a nomination for his track, ‘The Box’, in one of the biggest categories, ‘Song of the Year’. Keep soaring, Roddy.
6. Taylor Swift’s comical yet scathing music video for the track, ‘The Man’ has gotten the recognition it deserves. It’s been nominated in the ‘Video of the Year’ category.
7. Doja Cat has many reasons to celebrate today. The tune that earned her the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, ‘Say So’, has been nominated for ‘Song of the Year’. She’s also found a spot on the ‘Best New Artist’ category.
8. Megan Thee Stallion made waves with her powerful track, ‘Savage’, and it’s also earned her a nomination in the ‘Song of the Year’ category. She’s made quite a name for herself in the industry and that’s why she’s also up for a win in the ‘Artist of the Year’ category.
9. BTS have notched nominations in the ‘Best Pop’ category and in the ‘Best K-Pop’ one, for their stunning number ‘On’.
10. And finally, the ‘Artist of the Year’ category has saved a spot for Justin Bieber. His tunes, ‘Intentions’ and ‘Stuck With U’ have also scored big on the nominee list.
