The 2020 MAMA Awards: K-Pop Nominee Rundown
The 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) are all set to take place on the 6th of December, 2020. Every year, the award show brings to the fore stellar performances, the biggest groups in Asian music and prestigious wins. To think of this award show as the Grammys of Asia would be fair in every sense.
And, ahead of the 2020 MAMA awards, the anticipated nominee list has arrived. Featuring categories like Best Male/ Female Group, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Group/ Solo Performance, and more, this award show recognises all facets of K-Pop. Be it the music, choreography or videography, every artist gets their time to shine. Further, the voting system for this award show features a break up of part audience voting, part sales and part panel voting.
So, without further ado, dive right into the 2020 MAMA Awards nominees.

2. And, once again, it’s no surprise that mega girl group BLACKPINK scored big nominations, too. The girls are up for awards in the categories of Best Female Group, Best Dance Performance Female Group, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year.
3. In addition, seasoned girl group, MAMAMOO, are up for awards in some big categories. They’ve scored nods for Best Female Group, Best Vocal Performance Group (‘HIP’), and Song of the Year.
4. And, making MAMAMOO proud in more ways than one. member Hwasa is up for two solo award categories, too. The ‘Maria’ singer scored nominations in the Best Female Artist and Best Dance Performance – Solo.
5. Now, joining her is fan favourite and beloved singer-songwriter, IU. The ‘Yellow Card’ songstress is up for Best Female Artist, Best Vocal Performance – Solo, Best Collaboration, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.
6. Further, Taemin basks in the glory of his solo endeavours. The ‘Criminal’ hit maker scored nominations for Best Male Artist, Best Dance Performance – Solo (‘Criminal’), Song of the Year and more.
7. And, bringing attention to the power of young blood, TXT scored major nominations, too. Their release, ‘Can’t You See Me?’ scored them nominations in the Best Dance Performance – Group and Song of the Year categories.
8. Further, Sunmi continues her tradition of MAMA award nominations. The singer-songwriter scored nods for Best Female Artist, Best Dance Performance – Solo, Best Collaboration and Artist of the Year.
9. NCT 127 came in strong this time around at the MAMA awards. The group scored nominations in all the major categories – Best Male Group, Best Dance Performance – Group (‘Kick It’), Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year.
10. And, finally, maker of the iconic ‘Any Song Challenge’, ZICO, scored a nomination in the Best Hip Hop & Urban Music category for the legendary song.
The 2020 MAMA Awards will air on the 6th of Dec., 2020. And, this year’s ceremony will take place in Korea.
