Queen Rihanna is coming back!
RiRi’s documentary that gives us a glimpse of the star’s humble beginnings has reportedly been sold to Amazon for $25 million. The streaming service paid big money for the untitled film’s rights to counter last week’s $25 million Apple TV+ deal for Billie Eilish’s documentary.
Directed by Peter Berg (director of Battleship),the documentary is an exclusive look into the transformation of one of the world’s biggest popstars. Rumoured to be a collection of 1,200 hours of footage, the documentary hopes to provide insight into the singer’s personality, humour and work ethic.
He described it as an “unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life and how she’s rose to the global limelight .” He also said he liked the idea of looking at “a young artist at the top of her field,” and that the project would be “much more of a character study than a music film.” Now, fans finally have some answers about when it will be released.
Previously the star collaborated with Amazon to release her inclusive show called Guava Island that looks at her Savage x Fenty line, in collaboration with Donald Glover, and was touted a cult classic.
Rihanna’s been busy in her time away from music, with her beauty and fashion line reaching new highs even by industry standards. But, what can we say, Rihanna in muisc is a feeling that hits differently and we can’t wait for the bangers she she has in store for us. RiRi has outdone herself this time as well with a surprise documentary.
All we wanted for Christmas was new tracks from Rihanna but I guess a documentary will suffice for now. We’re not Monsters!
