Mariah Carey’s had a rockin’ year, especially after her hit song, ‘All I Want For Christmas’ claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts for the first time – 25 years after its original release. But it looks like she ran into a bit of trouble nearing the new year. It turns out that the singer’s Twitter account was hacked, and a string of inappropriate tweets were apparently sent out from her account, which has a good 21.4 million followers.

Among the messages were references to Eminem and a retweet of another account referencing the rapper’s daughter. “Eminem can still hold this p—y,” one tweet read. This possibly follows Mariah and Eminem’s longstanding feud, where the rapper claimed to have slept with the singer. Carey, however, denied this. As a result, Eminem had come out with numerous songs, or rather, diss tracks, referring to the artist in extremely derogatory ways.

Other tweets mentioned the Chuckling Squad, a hacker group that even managed to compromise the Twitter account of the Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey. The group has also been notorious for hacking other celebrity accounts, like that of Chloë Grace Moretz.

Thankfully, most of the tweets were deleted. And apart from the ones directed towards Eminem, the others mainly appeared to be trolling the singer’s fans.

Without missing a beat, her fans themselves responded.

“Hacking Mariah Carey is a federal offence so I hope it was worth it!” one user wrote.

A Twitter spokesperson discussed the issue in a comment, “As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised account and are currently investigating the situation.” Mariah Carey herself has not responded to this bizarre situation.

Well, we hope this is all gets resolved soon!
