On July 28, 2020, the Verzuz official page got Hip-Hop fans around the world pumped up. An Instagram post announced that rappers Rick Ross and 2 Chainz will square off against each other on Thursday, August 6th, 8 PM ET.
The Verzuz beat battle was initiated by rappers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. The pair curate the opponents for each battle and run the entire series. Till now there have been seventeen battles that have taken place since the world started to stay in quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.
2 Chainz was quick to hype up the Verzuz battle when he posted a photo with the caption ‘Grab your Popcorn’ on Instagram. On the day of the battle, that’s exactly what fans around the world will be doing. Even though the photo featured both the competitors posing together, we can’t wait for the war of words between the superstars.
Even though the Verzuz founders don’t choose either of these artists, it’s always very exciting to know who’s going to battle next. Earlier this year, 2 Chainz issued an open challenge to his fellow rappers for a Verzuz battle. The ‘No Lie’ rapper called out Tip, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, T.I., Ludacris and Meek Mill. However, Meek Mill respectfully declined this challenge.
In a Verzuz battle, the participants clash in two 10-song rounds which lasts around 3 hours. The contest plays out as an Instagram Live event with fans being able to comment and interact. A real-time audience ranges from 250,000 to 710,000 fans. To make the contest feel more like a real-time audience actual crowd noise is pumped in.
This battle of these two megastars hailing from Atlanta is set to be one for the ages. While people in comment sections already believe that Rick Ross has this battle won but we can’t tell, can we?
