‘28 Years Later’ Trailer Reveals Zombified Cillian Murphy in Post-Apocalyptic Film

The destiny of Jim, played by Cillian Murphy, may be hinted at in the first teaser trailer for ‘28 Years Later’, the third film in the ‘28 Years Later’ trilogy. Nearly 30 years have passed since the rage-inducing virus that wiped out society after escaping from a biological weapons facility was discovered in this post-apocalyptic horror movie.

Murphy portrayed Jim in the 2002 movie ‘28 Years Later’, a bicycle courier who awakens from a coma to discover the world in disarray. In the 2007 follow-up, ‘28 Weeks Later’, NATO forces attempted to retake a London safe area.

Although Murphy’s name is not on the official cast list, Jim is said to appear in ‘28 Years Later’, despite not being in the sequel. Fans will have to wait until the film’s June 2025 release to corroborate rumours that a zombie in the teaser might resemble the actor, who also serves as executive producer on the project.

Praise for its tense atmosphere, the trailer establishes the mood of the movie without giving away too much of the plot. The unsettling suspense is increased by the creepy reading of Rudyard Kipling’s combat poem Boots. Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Jodie Comer are newcomers to the franchise who portray survivors battling to ensure their future.

The movie’s slogan, “Time didn’t heal anything,” implies that the planet is still in danger from the wrath virus. The direct sequel, ‘28 Years Later II: The Bone Temple’, has already been filmed. The first part of a new trilogy is ‘28 Years Later’. The plot centres on a group of survivors who live on a small island and discover unsettling information about mutant survivors and the infected, even if Comer, Taylor-Johnson, and Fiennes’ roles are still unknown.

A major character in the movie, Jodie Comer, has called the plot “emotional,” highlighting the film’s examination of human nature and how individuals respond to harsh situations.’28 Years Later’ will be available on 20th June 2025.
