The MTV VMAs were bigger than what we had expected. From surprising wins to breathtaking performances, it had it all! The artists took to stage from different locations across New York City on August 30, 2020.
The event was scheduled to take place at Barclays Center at first, however, due to the pandemic, the event was held with limited or audience. It was one of the first big events to take place since the pandemic. The show also “paid homage to the strength, spirit and incredible resilience of NYC and it’s beloved residents”.
Well, there’s no doubt it was a major success. Miley Cyrus, BTS, CNCO, The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and more delivered smashing performance. But, let’s take a look at the best performances of the night!
Doja Cat Performs ‘Say So’ & ‘Like That’ At The 2020 MTV VMAs
Doja Cat took the 2020 MTV VMAs’ stage to perform ‘Say So’ & ‘Like That’ as she kicked it off with a fake news segment. She wore an iridescent catsuit as she sang and danced around backup dancers. She was also nominated for the Best New Song Award.
Maluma Performs His Hit ‘Hawai’ At At The 2020 MTV VMAs
Maluma gave a smashing performance on ‘Hawai’, a track from his latest album, “Papi Jauncho” at the event. He took the stage at Brooklyn’s Skyline Drive-In and the audience watched him through their cars. He wore the smartest yellow suit we’ve ever seen, totally coordinating with his back-up dancers.
Black Eyed Peas Performed ‘Vida Loca’ & ‘I Gotta Feeling’ At The 2020 MTV VMAs
Black Eyed Peas took the stage at the 2020 MTV VMAs after seventeen years with ‘Vida Loca’ from their “Translation” album. After their first song, they also delivered an encore set of ‘I Gotta Feeling’. Tyga joined the band and Nicky Jam helped in creating a sky-sized projection. The artists closed the show as they wore light up zippers and danced around the stage.
MGK Performed ‘my ex’s best friend’ & ‘Bloody Valentine’ At The 2020 MTV VMAs
MGK took to the stage during the Pre-Show show of the 2020 MTV VMAs with ‘my ex’s best friend’ and ‘Bloody Valentine’ along with Travis Barker Blackbear. Machine Gun Kelly delivered his banger from top of a rooftop. He was surrounded with blue and pink lights during his second song’s performance, undoubtedly looking as smart as ever.
