A Track By Kylie Minogue And Jason Donovan Was Reissued in Honour of ‘Neighbours’ Reunion
In honour of their ‘Neighbours’ reunion, Kylie Minogue has announced that her 1980s hit track with Jason Donovan, ‘Especially For You’ will be reissued.
The song, which released in 1989 on Donovan’s debut album ‘Ten Good Reasons,’ will be reissued again on 5th August. A limited edition will be released on vinyl and cassette tape.
Stock Aitken Waterman wrote and produced the song ‘Especially For You,’ which was made available as the second single from ‘Ten Good Reasons’ in November 1988.
On 14th July, Minogue posted a picture of a young Kylie and Jason on Instagram to share the news.
In the caption, she wrote: “Now we ARE back together on @neighbours, a limited run of ‘Especially For You’ with @jdonofficial will be available on vinyl and cassette on 5th August to bring back more 80s memories!!”
Donovan played Scott Robinson in the show, and Minogue played Charlene Mitchell. Both characters had their television debuts in 1986; Minogue left the show in 1988 to concentrate on her singing career. The following year, Donovan left.
The UK broadcaster, Channel 5 announced in February that it will stop airing the series after the summer, which resulted in the cancellation of the Australian series. It is still the longest-running soap opera in Australia, and among others, it helped launch the careers of stars Margot Robbie, Liam Hemsworth, and Russell Crowe.
A statement on the show’s official Twitter read: “We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours.”
Later, it was reported that Minogue and Donovan, the ‘ultimate Neighbours couple,’ would be returning to Ramsay Street for the long-running soap opera’s finale. Earlier this year, the duo posted a picture of a screenplay online.
They posted their first photos together on the ‘Neighbours’ set earlier this month. Minogue can be seen hugging Donovan in the photos, and a green mini is visible in the background, which is a nod to the original vehicle Minogue’s character in the show drove.
