Aitch Releases a Summery Video For His New Track ‘Baby’

Aitch has released a new track, ‘Baby,’ and you can watch the video for it below. The Manchester rapper’s first solo single of the year, produced by Fred Again, is the latest teaser of his upcoming debut album. ‘Baby’ borrows Ashanti’s ‘Rock Wit U (Aww Baby),’ with Aitch giving the R&B classic a contemporary rap flavour.

The accompanying video, directed by Zain Alexander Shammas, shows the rapper in Malibu, going through the ups and downs of a relationship. The sun-drenched video includes VHS clips of romantic moments, as well as an appearance by the rapper’s current girlfriend, Chicken Shop Date’s Amelia Dimoldenberg.

Aitch, who presented Burna Boy with the award for Best Solo Act In The World alongside Big Zuu at the BandLab NME Awards 2022, spoke to NME on the red carpet about the tune.

“I think everyone’s gonna love it,” he said of the track. “It’s a little meaningful one, a little love song for all the people who need that right now.

“It was inspired by a lot of things, like other people’s relationships around me, my past relationships. When you hear it, you’ll get it: it happens all the time, you’ll understand when you hear it.”

He also announced that his debut album would most likely be released in June, followed by a summer of festivals and tours in Australia and New Zealand, as well as UK and European appearances.

“It’s basically finished to be fair,” he said. “I’m just ready for the roll-out now. I’m putting some singles out and it’s time to go.”

Liam Gallagher was promised £7 million to appear on Aitch’s album. He also told NME on the red carpet of the BRIT Awards 2022 that he plans to meet Gallagher at the ceremony and talk him into a partnership.

Gallagher responded to NME’s Big Read by saying: “He seems like a nice lad, but I don’t wanna be on anyone’s album.” Aitch stated at the BandLab NME Awards that he had yet to meet the singer and that he was “still working” on collaborating with him.

ArrDee and Aitch collaborated on the single ‘War’ last month. Prior to that, he collaborated on the track ‘Bad’ with British-Gambian rapper Pa Salieu. Aitch released ‘Learning Curve,’ ‘GSD,’ and ‘Party Round My Place’ in 2021, with the latter featuring Avelino and Toddla T. The rapper’s most recent full-length release was his ‘Polaris’ EP in May 2020, which contained AJ Tracey’s duet ‘Rain’ and production by Kenny Beats on the songs ‘Safe To Say’ and ‘Zombie.’
