Andrew Garfield Open to Playing Spider-Man Again — But Only If It’s Wonderfully Weird

Although Andrew Garfield is open about his desire to reprise his role as Spider-Man, he has some very precise ideas about how he would like to do it.
He talked about how much he loved performing the part and how he would love to do it again in some capacity while attending the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi. He did clarify, though, that it would need to be something out of the ordinary, unique, and imaginatively surprising – like the freedom found in the animated Spider-Verse movies.
He clarified that those films demonstrate the multiverse’s capacity to honour and explore the character in a variety of ways, which creates opportunities for fresh, original interpretations of Spider-Man.

The web-slinger was Garfield’s first role in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ (2012) and its follow-up (2014). Tom Holland later took over the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ (2017), despite the fact that a third movie was originally planned but was eventually cancelled.
In 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, Garfield did get the opportunity to reprise his role as Spider-Man, teaming up with Holland and Tobey Maguire. Afterwards, he said that experience helped him find closure.
In response to the question of whether he would reprise the part, Garfield stated that he would, but only if it was a unique, significant, and creatively rewarding opportunity.
