Another Day, Another Record for BTS: Details Here

BTS preforms 'HOME' on The Tonight Show

Last week, South Korean mega stars, BTS, took over the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The week-long residency saw some never stunning performances, hilarious interviews and entertaining game segments.

In addition, BTS spilled the beans on their upcoming album, “BE (Deluxe Edition)”, piquing the interest of fans worldwide. And, if that wasn’t enough, every day saw BTS trending No. 1 worldwide on Twitter, with their performances and appearances on the late night show garnering millions of tweets through the week.

Big Gains for The Tonight Show

Now, Jimmy Fallon confirmed that their takeover of the show gave the Tonight Show 1 million new subscribers in one week. The talk show host tweeted, “1 MILLION new subscribers during #BTSWEEK?! WE ? YOU ARMY!”. And, that led to the official confirmation that this digital and social media engagement marks the highest engagement for a television show in history, ever.

A statement from digital head of The Tonight Show, T. Kyle Macmahon, to Billboard, read, “I wanted to create an exciting digital experience that would be accessible worldwide across any platform or device.” Further, he added, “Fans were able to watch together live from all over the globe, communicate via YouTube’s live chat, and tweet together in real-time.”

Numbers Speak Louder Than Words

And, if numbers speak, these numbers roar. BTS’ appearance on The Tonight Show garnered “3 million shares, 27 million responses and 119 million video views”. Further, #BTSWEEK made The Tonight Show “the No. 1 most-viewed entertainment TV program on YouTube in a 52-week period from September 2019 to September 2020, garnering more than 2.3 billion views,” according to the latest confirmation.

BTS’ Map of the Soul ON:E

Now, BTS is bound to score more records in the world of live streams and digital activity. The group is gearing up for their second virtual live, “Map of the Soul ON:E”, slated for the 10th and 11th of October. The tour-like concert will stream live, online, featuring performances from what would have been their world tour set. Further, the event is a ticketed one. So, while the days pass, be sure that BTS’ roster of records extends itself to no bounds.
