Ariana Grande Flees From Flying Monkeys in Newly Released ‘Wicked’ Deleted Scenes

Deleted scenes from Wicked have been unveiled, including one featuring Ariana Grande running from flying monkeys. The scenes were shared online ahead of the movie’s digital release tomorrow (December 31). The film, based on the popular stage musical, stars Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Glinda and Elphaba, two students at Shiz University who will eventually become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Three additional scenes were released over the weekend (December 27) through Entertainment Weekly and TODAY. One clip shows Glinda teaching Elphaba about social etiquette to help her become more popular, while another features a montage of the two friends enjoying a train ride to Emerald City. The final scene, however, takes a more dramatic turn, as Glinda and Elphaba try to escape the attacking flying monkeys.

Erivo recently shared that she co-wrote a song for ‘Wicked: For Good’, the sequel to the musical adaptation, set to release next year. She also confirmed that her debut album will drop in the same year, just before the film’s release. Wicked has been a major commercial success in recent weeks, receiving praise from critics as well. In other news, director Adam McKay expressed concerns, stating that he believes ‘Wicked’ could face a ban in three years if the US continues on its current path.
