Ariana Grande Talks Kentucky Primaries: “Use Your Voice”
Ariana Grande is using her platform for a cause. The singer sent coffee and food trucks to cater to all the voters lining up at the Kentucky primaries.
Grande tweeted earlier in the day, encouraging all the voters of Kentucky to “use their voice”. Her tweet, which came as a pleasant surprise to many, reads: “Sent some food and coffee trucks for everyone waiting in line! please pull up, enjoy and use your voice today we need u”.
Focus on the Kentucky primaries is not misplaced. According to recent media reports following the progress of primaries in the US, the difficulties faced by Kentucky are unprecedented.
Kentucky usually sees the presence of 3,700 polling stations in the state. This year, there was a drastic drop with only 170 stations available to the voters of Kentucky. Further, out of these 170 stations, only one will be available in Jefferson County – the county with the largest black community.
Ariana Grande has been extremely vocal during these recent times, using her platform to contribute to the Black Lives Matter movement. And while the focus of the current socio-political context remains on racial justice and equality, a big move is towards voting responsibly.
Kentucky is just one in a long list of primary elections that will mold the congressional race in November, 2020.
Ariana Grande has also been taking her voice on ground, participating in mass demonstrations as part of the Black Lives Matter movement.
