Ariana Grande Teases ‘Pivotal’ New Song from ‘Wicked: For Good’

According to Ariana Grande, a brand-new, original song will be featured in the next ‘Wicked’ sequel, ‘Wicked: For Good’.

According to the 31-year-old singer, who plays Glinda the Good Witch again in the second instalment of Jon M. Chu’s popular musical, the song brings out a hitherto hidden aspect of her persona. The new song, which will be released in November, represents a sea change for Glinda. Grande clarified that although this metamorphosis takes place offstage in the stage performance, the film vividly depicts a pivotal point in Glinda’s journey. Composer Stephen Schwartz wrote the song, and Grande added that being the first Glinda to bring it to the big screen was an honour.

Grande began taking voice and acting training a year before the announcement of auditions to get ready for the part. She explained that because mainstream singing and musical theatre approaches differ greatly, it took months of preparation to retrain her voice for Glinda’s soprano parts. Grande expressed her strong dedication to the part and said she wanted to give the famous character justice, calling Glinda a beacon of love and growth.

Elphaba is played by Cynthia Erivo, who co-stars with Grande. Both have received recognition for their vocal talents, and both reviewers and viewers have praised their roles in the Golden Globe-nominated movie.

Within six weeks of its premiere, ‘Wicked’ surpassed box office records, earning $634 million worldwide, making it the most successful Broadway musical adaptation, surpassing even Mamma Mia! Scenes that were cut from the digital version of the film include an emotional exchange between Glinda and Elphaba that highlights Glinda’s frailty. Since the scene provided a more in-depth look at the characters’ connection, director Jon M. Chu acknowledged that it was challenging to eliminate.

Glinda’s dramatic metamorphosis and Grande’s new portrayal in this renowned role are eagerly anticipated by fans in ‘Wicked: For Good’.
