#artistoftheweek Selena Gomez

The millennial generation has, in a way, grown up with Selena Gomez. From watching her shows on Disney to listening to her older tracks like ‘Naturally’ on repeat, we’ve stuck with her through thick and thin. And now that she’s back in action, stirring up the music scene, how could we not make her our artist of the week?

A lot has happened over the last few years, both in Selena’s career and in her personal life. From her breakup with fellow child superstar, Justin Bieber, and her recent on-off relationship with Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, to her role in Woody Allen’s upcoming film – she’s clearly been juggling a lot of things!

Now, Selena’s back with her two new hit singles, “Lose You To Love Me” and “Look At Her Now”. Not only is Gomez’s new songs just a great bop, but it’s potentially a precursor to the singer’s musical career taking off in a major way. Because if history has taught us anything, it’s that confessional-style singles are the first stop on the road to pop stardom. In her recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, Gomez said, “I wrote these songs over a year ago. And it’s like, I feel completely different from when I wrote it, so it’s such an interesting feeling…it’s also more beautiful for me because I know exactly where I was when I wrote it and how I felt.”

We love the inspiration behind the new song and it certainly does feel very cathartic for Gomez and her millions of supporters. The ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ star has often surprised us Selenators, with her hit music. Some of her best music has always had us singing and dancing on the edge of our beds. Some of these tracks include:

· Naturally

· A Year Without Rain

· Heart Wants It Wants

· Hands To Myself

· Come And Get It

With “Lose You To Love Me” and “Look At Her Now” Gomez shows that she is ready to move into a new era. That era includes her highly anticipated third solo studio album. Though Gomez hasn’t announced the release date for her upcoming album, we’ve got these two tracks to keep us company for the time being.
