Artists React to Britney Spears Documentary
Several artists like Kacey Musgraves, Sam Smith & more, send love and extend support to Britney Spears after watching the harrowing new documentary.
Many have also been encouraging their fans to watch ‘The New York Times Presents: Framing Britney Spears’, a just-released FX documentary about the pop superstar’s controversial conservatorship. According to California law, courts define a conservatorship as a judge appointing “a responsible person or organization (called the ‘conservator’) to care for another adult (called the ‘conservatee’) who cannot care for himself or herself or manage his or her own finances.

Celeb Reactions
Paramore lead vocalist Hayley Williams spoke about how Spears was scrutinized by paparazzi, according to the artist, media culture of the early 2000s, contributed to today’s “mental health awareness conversation” in society.
Artist Kacey Musgraves shared New York Time’s Instagram post on her IG Story and encouraged her 2 million followers to watch ‘Framing Britney Spears’.
“Never has one person been so used and abandoned by every facet around her,” the ‘Golden Hour’ artist wrote. “My heart goes out to her. She has always been such an inspiration to me my whole kid/teen life. Wish she could get a re-do.”
Courtney Love, wife of the late artist Kurt Cobain also took to Twitter to express her shock and sadness.
A Dark Chapter
The New York Times released a statement on their official Instagram page saying the following: “Spears is enduring a stranger, and maybe even darker, chapter: She lives under a court-sanctioned conservatorship, her rights curtailed. She is not in control of the fortune she earned as a performer.”
“Britney Spears entered the conservatorship in 2008, at age 26, when her struggles were on public display. Now she is 39, and a growing number of her fans are agitating on her behalf, raising questions about civil liberties while trying to deduce what Spears wants.”
