Avril Lavigne has been absent from the music scene for quite a while and that’s why, it came as a shock to fans across the globe when she surfaced with a re-recorded track.

So, here’s how it all went down, the ‘Sk8er Boi’ hitmaker announced that she will be re-recording her track, “Warrior” to honor the “heroic” efforts of those working tirelessly at the frontlines, to beat COVID-19.

She took to social media to deliver a heartwarming message, “Ever since our world was turned upside down a few weeks ago I’ve seen everyday people put on armor and go into battle. Simple tasks like delivering mail has become a heroic effort. Overnight everyone was asked to battle. Overnight everyone became Warriors. To all the hospital workers, postal service people, grocery store workers, police and firemen, every single one of you who has had their world shaken. This is for you,” she concluded.

This track, which will drop on Friday, features on Lavigne’s 2019 album, ‘Head Above Water’. For the singer, this has always been a deeply personal number, one that took a lot of courage to create as it addressed her ongoing health battle with Lyme disease. And now, the song arrives with a promise that this too shall pass.

The net proceeds will go to Project Hope, an organization ensuring the safety of medical staff across the world.
