Axl Rose Joins Michael Schenker For a Fresh Take on UFO’s ‘Love to Love’
Axl Rose lends his vocals to Michael Schenker’s new version of UFO’s ‘Love To Love’.
Schenker, who played with UFO during key periods from 1973-1978 and 1993-1995, reflects on his time with the London rock band in his latest album, ‘My Years With UFO’, released on 20th September.
The album revisits tracks Schenker recorded with UFO during his 1970s tenure, marking 50 years since his time with the band. Featuring contributions from some of rock’s biggest stars, including Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, it celebrates his legacy. Rose’s vocals bring a fresh twist to ‘Love To Love,’ showcasing UFO’s influence on GN’R. Listen to the track below:
In addition to Axl Rose, the album also features Slash, his GN’R bandmate, alongside other rock legends like former Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, ex-Rainbow and Deep Purple singer Joe Lynn Turner, and Jeff Scott Soto, known for his work with guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen.
This album is the first of three Schenker will release under a new deal with earMUSIC, with two more planned for 2025 and 2026.

In an interview with the Appetite For Distortion podcast, Schenker explained his timing for releasing My Years With UFO: “In ’72 I joined UFO. I was 17 years old. In ’73 we recorded ‘Phenomenon’. In ’74, it was released. So it’s 50 years, a long time. And that’s when it started with UFO. And, of course, that gave me the idea to celebrate – 50th anniversary.
“And I have also noticed in the past few years that re-releases, they had no information – they just had the name UFO and the song titles, but there’s no info, no details. And so I thought I’d take this opportunity to inform people, to re-educate or educate newcomers that have — maybe they sing the songs, but have no clue what it is.”
