‘Baby one more time’ turns 20!

Britney Spears’s banger of a debut album, ‘Baby One More Time’ turned 20 today! And frankly, the internet is having a hard time handling the news!

We all remember when we first heard the song, however it’s only come to many a punter’s attention now that the album has turned the ripe old age of 20. (Which in turn, made us feel a whole lot older).

As Britney herself celebrated the milestone, having carved out one of the biggest careers in pop music after landing on the scene in a big way as teen, the 37 year old singer admitted the past two decades have seen her embark on the ‘journey of a lifetime’.

Britney gave a shout out to the moment, as she wrote on her account: “Can you believe that this album was released 20 years ago today?! I can’t. It’s been the journey of a lifetime, but I’m grateful for every moment. Getting to know you all over the years has been such an incredible experience. Thank you for all your support.”

The writer of ‘Baby One More Time’, Eric Foster White, spoke about the one thing he’d change about the song, if he was able to go back in time, he admitted he’d ‘not write it’.

Ouch!

At least the singer’s boyfriend, Sam Asghari is a fan of where the tune got her. He commented on Britney’s original ode to the past: “This humbles me! Always blessed. Look where gratitude has gotten you.”

It comes at a sad time, though, after the star put her latest line of shows on an indefinite hiatus due to the ill health of her father, Jamie. Shows on her Britney: Domination, running at the Park MGM resort in Las Vegas are on hold until further notice, in order for the star to spend time with her dad. The mother-of-two wrote: “I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me. Thank you to all my fans for your continued love and support during this time. I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you.”

In the meantime, happy birthday….BABY ONE MORE TIME!
